Gain insights into the elegant exhibition, Deco Japan: Shaping Art & Culture 1920-1945, through this talk by exhibition curator Kendall Brown. This program will examine how Japanese artists used the international Deco style to celebrate the glittering and glamorous world of urban nightlife in Japan and to buttress the rapidly growing nationalism of the island country. Join us in the Welcome Center located in the Visitor Pavilion for a reception and book signing following the lecture.
This program is funded in part through the generous support The Friends of Asian Art of The Ringling Museum, the Japan Foundation, New York, the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Sarasota County Tourist Development Tax Revenues.
