Asian Art at the Ringling Museum
"The Ringling Museum’s collection of European and American art was enriched in 2002 with gifts of Asian Art from Ira and Nancy Koger and the promised gifts of Dr. Helga Wall-Apelt in 2006. These dynamic collections add to the Museum’s Asian works and allow for the exploration of art and culture beyond Western traditions. The Ringling Museum will be expanding its galleries within the next five years with the Dr. Helga Wall-Apelt Asian Art Galleries. As the Ringling Museum shifts to this new area of cultural study, a series of Asian-focused exhibitions are being developed. The Asian initiative, as it is being called, and Asian collections exhibitions are attracting attention of the international, regional and local press.
