Ann Hirsch and Pablo Eduardo have each created imposing sculptures that flank the east and west entrances to Patriot Plaza at the National Memorial Cemetery in Sarasota. Though each scuplture was inspired by the traditional symbol of the United States, the bald eagle, Hirsch and Eduardo created strikingly different interpretations. Hear the artists discuss the inspiration for their work, as well as the processes involved.
This conversation will be moderated by art consultant Ann Wykell who managed the public art projects for Patriot Plaza. Patriot Plaza is the result of a first-ever partnership between a private charitable entity - The Patterson Foundation - and the National Cemetery Administration. Art is integrated thoughout the 1.83-acre ceremonial amphitheater, and features the work of four artists from across the country. Learn what goes on behind closed doors.
