Internships

  • Welcome to the Ringling Museum of Art

31 galleries filled with works of antiquities, old masters and modern visionaries, the Ringling Museum is a jewel set on Sarasota’s beautiful Bayfront.

  • Right This Way to the Circus Museum

Discover the history of the American circus through special exhibitions, displays and interactive galleries.

  • When the Curtain Rises

From the classics to the experimental, the Historic Asolo Theater is at the heart of arts and culture in Sarasota.

  • The Bayfront Gardens

Riot with greenery and sculpted gardens, the Ringling’s 66-acres are a rich collection of tropical flora as inspiring as any work of art here.

  • Ca’ d’Zan: The Last of the Gilded Mansions

Modeled on the Venetian palazzos of Venice, Italy, the magnificent Ca' d’Zan was John Ringling’s love letter to his beloved wife Mable.

  • The Ringling Art Library

One of the Ringling Art Library’s most important and essential tasks is making its collection available to students and scholars of art.

The Ringling is dedicated to sharing its resources and experience with future museum and non-profit organization professionals interested in a career in the museum field. The internship program introduces graduate students to the intricacies of a major museum complex.  It provides insight into museum careers through practical work experience not available in most academic settings.  Interns participate in daily operations of specific museum departments and have the opportunity to attend museum tours with curators, board meetings, lectures, exhibition openings, and departmental orientations. Two types of internships are offered, a summer internship (Paid) and an academic year internship (Unpaid).

2014 Summer Internships opportunities are now available

From our Interns

"Working in the education department at The Ringling means gaining experience in a circus museum, an art museum, a historic home, a theater and a library. After one summer here I have the confidence to start my museum career anywhere."

Heather Cook

"I truly enjoyed my summer internship building new skills as a prospective art librarian and working with such a great team. One of my projects included digitizing rare portfolios from the John Ringling library collection, which can be viewed here:http://ringlinglibrary.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/landingpage/collection/p16023coll1"
