It’s National Volunteer week, and to celebrate The Ringling held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 2.
The theme for this year’s Appreciation Event was “Volunteers: Laying the Foundation for Success.” The Volunteer Services Advisory Council’s Recognition Committee assists us in the planning of the event, and the committee was inspired by the addition of the Bolger Playspace, the construction of the Asian Art Study Center, and all of the other enhancements being made to the estate. Volunteers play a vital role in helping us shape the visitor experience, and they are excited to be a part of the progress.
Since last July, our volunteers have contributed more than 46,500 hours. There are currently 550 active volunteers serving in 22 positions across 14 different departments. The previous fiscal year saw volunteers contributing 58,500 hours, which would be equal to a donation of approximately $1.3 million.
While we appreciate all of our volunteers at The Ringling, this event highlighted the work our current Volunteer Services Advisory Council. Those volunteers are:
• Wilmer Pearson, Chair
• Roberta Schaumleffel, Vice Chair
• Mary Russell, Secretary
• John Fisher, Past Chair
Officers on the Volunteer Services Advisory Council serve two-year terms that begin on July 1.
