The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art exists because of John and Mable Ringling’s dream to create a cultural center here in Sarasota. Today, The Ringling is one of our city’s most iconic landmarks and the largest cultural institution on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Annual gifts offer a unique opportunity to ensure The Ringling’s continued success to create meaningful experiences and lasting memories for all of our unique visitors.
Above and beyond membership support, the Annual Fund provides important unrestricted operating resources for our programs, exhibitions, and conservation of the collection. Donors who choose to support the Annual Fund have an immediate and meaningful impact on the day-to-day operations of the museum. These gifts touch every facet of the institution, from the upkeep and maintenance of galleries and public spaces, to the community and education programs that inspire hundreds of thousands each year.
A gift to The Ringling Annual Fund supports essential operations, including exhibitions and related educational symposia; accessible education programs for families and students; and conservation projects to protect our permanent collection. Gifts to The Ringling Annual Fund may be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Did you know that many companies will double or even triple your gift to The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art by matching your contribution dollar for dollar or more? With your employer's help, you can double the impact of your support! Companies will often match the gifts of retirees as well.
FSU Great Give
FSU’s Great Give is a 36-hour online giving campaign in support of academic programs, scholarships and student activities at Florida State University and The Ringling. Every year The Ringling hosts graduate students in residence as part of the MA program in Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies offered in partnership with the Department of Art History at FSU. The residency exposes students to what life is like in a professional museum environment. As part of weekly seminars on the subjects of exhibition development and public programs, the students take short fieldtrips to other museums in and around Sarasota. With support from FSU’s Great Give, these experiences could be supplemented by an extended trip to Miami. This exciting opportunity would introduce the students to the city’s many museums, which would greatly enrich their understanding of and appreciation for the variety of institutions within the museum field.
Community Foundation of Sarasota County Giving Challenge
The Ringling is proud to participate once again in the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Giving Challenge—a 24-hour online giving event supporting more than 625 nonprofits serving Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties. The “Be the One” theme of the 2018 Giving Challenge is inspired by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s belief that each one of us has the potential to impact a person, a cause, a community. The philosophy sprouts from the idea that each donor can be the one to make a positive, lasting difference.

Foundation and Government Support
The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is grateful for the support we receive from foundations and government agencies. Grants make it possible for us to share our outstanding collections of art, world premier performances and breath-taking grounds with our local community and visitors from around the globe. Foundation and government grants provide educational classes to school children and public programs for all ages, and they help bring world-class performers to The Ringling.
Foundation and government support allows the museum to offer programming that engages and inspires, ensuring we remain regionally relevant and internationally significant, forever.
