Become a Museum of Art Guide at The Ringling!

Join us for an open house on Tue, Oct 3 at 11:00 AM

Learn about becoming a Museum Guide and other volunteer opportunities within the Education Department. During this informational session our staff will explain our application process and training in more detail.

Guides are museum volunteers who are specially trained to engage visitors of all ages and backgrounds in active explorations of our collections. We are currently recruiting individuals for our next guide training class, which will be focused on the Museum of Art. The next training class is scheduled to begin January 2024, and we are seeking enthusiastic life-long learners for this opportunity.

We offer two tracks to become a Museum of Art guide. Guides may choose the track that best fits their availability!

  1. The first track is 8 weeks long, focusing on gallery teaching and facilitating conversations with specific pieces in our collection. This track will equips guides to lead a general overview tour of our collection.
  2. The second track is 28 weeks, spread out over 12 months. This course will cover all areas of our collections and train guides to lead tours throughout the art museum.

Concerned that you know very little about art, history, or museums in general? Not to worry! The training course is comprehensive and includes extensive content-based lectures as well as training on effective touring techniques. If you are interested in helping us preserve and share The Ringling legacy, we encourage you to apply!

Interested?  Please RSVP to [email protected]

This information session will be conducted in the Chao Lecture Hall, located on the 3rd floor of the Center for Asian Art. Please park in the main parking lot and enter through the Visitors Pavilion.
