Nélida Karr is considered the “contemporary revelation of Equatorial Guinean music" and has become the voice of the new generation of African singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. She classifies her music as "Afro-Fusion" impregnated with the many influences she assimilated while growing up in Malabo, the capital of the only Spanish-speaking country in Africa. She produces an eclectic mix of music of the Bubi ethnic group and Equatorial Guinean rhythms such as Katya, Kotto, bonko, mokom and antonobe, deeply embedded with jazz, blues, Spanish and Latin influences.

Besides being a prolific performing artist and producer, she is the founder of "MOSART" Music school, a nonprofit dedicated to music education and art with the aim of helping Equatorial Guinean children and youth discover and develop their talents. This soulful singer and mission focused artist has won numerous awards for her undeniable talent and eclectic musical style seated between traditional roots and world music. Nélida is the daughter of producer Samuel Karr and singer Domitila Rosario and as a recording artist, released her first of four albums to date in 2010 at the age of 20. After the release of her second album “Batobiera” (2013), she was selected as one of the top ten finalists in the 2013 RFI Découvert awards and has reached a sweet spot in the pool of remarkable talents in Africa.
