In the decades between World War I (1914–1918) and World War II (1939–1945), the Art Deco movement emerged as a new global artistic style. Characterized by clean lines and abstract forms evocative of the machine age, Art Deco also responded to modernist art movements such as Cubism, Futurism, and Constructivism.

In 2020, The Ringling received a significant gift of art from Murray Bring and Kay Delaney Bring, in support of the modern and contemporary collection. This exhibition presents selections from this gift in dialogue with rarely seen works from The Ringling's collection.

The exhibition From the Chambers: Honoring John Sims brings two works together, on view publicly for the first time, in conjunction with John Chamberlain’s sculpture Added Pleasure. The exhibition serves as just one part of the significant legacy the artist leaves behind, in Sarasota and beyond.

This exhibition showcases examples of Indian painting and sculpture from The Ringling and private Florida collections. On view are paintings by artists from various schools affiliated with royal courts across northern, central, and western India between the 16th and 19th centuries.

An imperative step toward establishing a meaningful relationship with the Native American artistic community, Reclaiming Home will highlight the breadth and depth of the artwork by Seminole, Miccosukee, and mixed-heritage artists from Florida.

Multi-media artist Lorna Bieber’s artistic practice is grounded in the principles of appropriating, recycling, and manipulating imagery. Her process emerged while working as a photo-editor for major magazines when she began creating innovative work using found and stock images that she manipulated on copy machines.
