Think you have problems maintaining your home sweet home? Imagine the responsibility involved in caring for a mansion that sits on Sarasota Bay, welcomes thousands of visitors each year and where nothing is fixed with a quick trip to the hardware store. This year alone, preservation of the Ca d’Zan requires the replacement of portions of the exterior terra cotta ornament, creating new supports for the balcony off of John’s bedroom, as well as painting, roof repairs and other more mundane tasks.
This program is part of a Conversation series "Behind the Scenes" in whihc we will explore the challenges of maintaining The Ringling’s historic and contemporary properties and collections. You’ll appreciate the knowledge, patience, and care that is necessary to solve these ongoing challenges when you hear from staff and other professionals who undertake this work. Additional programs will be announced over the course of the year.
Less formal that a lecture presentation, Conversations are designed to be programs where staff and guests can share research projects or topics of special interest. All Conversations take place in the Chao Lecture Hall - please remember to allow extra time to walk or take a tram to the Center for Asian Art.
