Conversation about the Ca’ d’Zan
Tuesday, November 7 @ 10:30 AM

Think you have problems maintaining your home sweet home? Imagine the responsibility involved in caring for a mansion that sits on Sarasota Bay, welcomes thousands of visitors each year and where nothing is fixed with a quick trip to the hardware store.  This year alone, preservation of the Ca d’Zan requires the replacement of portions of the exterior terra cotta ornament, creating new supports for the balcony off of John’s bedroom, as well as painting, roof repairs and other more mundane tasks.

10:30AM:  Conversation.  After the conclusion of the program, Friends are invited to have an in-person look at the conservations projects at the Ca’ d’Zan, led by Ron McCarty. Light reception to follow on the terrace.

Garden Discussion at the Tea House
March 8, 2018 @ 4:30 - 6:30 PM

Presentation by Kevin Greene, Landscape Supervisor,  David Young, Landscape Architect, and Glenn Darling, Architect of the Nancy L. Ellis Tea House.

Behind the Scenes: A Kaleidoscope of Color: The Costume Design of Miles White
Museum of Art, Searing Galleries
Wednesday, April 25 @ 5:30 PM

Elephants became swans, beautiful girls turned into birthday cakes, and clowns became kings. Join Steven High and Associate Curator, Jennifer Lemmer Posey for a look at the whimsical visions of costume designer Miles White (1914-2000), that were brought to life for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus during its final decade under the canvas big top.
