Join us for a special ROAR series designed for older children, ages 5 to 7! In this special series, we will visit a museum venue and read a story in the museum followed by an art activity.
►Tickets will be available two weeks before each program.
►There is a $2 ticket required per child, and this fee gives one child and up to two adults access to the featured venue for the remainder of the day.
►Participants should meet in the Visitors Pavilion.
►Caregivers must remain with the group throughout the program and are encouraged to participate!
May 5 | Myths and Monsters in the Museum of Art
Today, we will be heading to the Museum of Art to look at mythological monsters and read the book Leonardo the Terrible Monster by Mo Willems. Afterwards, we will be playing a drawing game in the galleries to create our own not-so-scary monsters!
June 2 | Animals in Art
Today, we will be heading to the Museum of Art to read The Very Hungry Caterpillar look at a still life with some sneaky caterpillars and butterflies hidden throughout a painting! Afterwards, we will be creating our own clothespin butterflies in the museum’s courtyard.
July 7 | Art of Asia
In today’s ROAR for Big Kids, we will be reading the book Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth by Sanjay Patel and making homemade ladoo, a sweet treat that originated in India.
August 4 | Contemporary Art
Today’s ROAR program will take place in the First Five Years of Art of Our Time exhibition in the Searing Wing of the Museum of Art, where we will read The Three Little Pigs: An Architectural Tale by Steven Guarnaccia. Afterwards, we will explore building our own structures out of different materials!
