• A must-do with your B.F.F. is the RIAF Opening Night. On Wednesday, Oct. 15 put on your best trends and attend a performance by Duo Amal beginning at 7 p.m. A great way to celebrate the bonds of friendship with your favorite pal, Duo Amal is a collaboration between preeminent pianists Bishara Haroni and Yaron Kohlberg. Following the performance, enjoy a Courtyard celebration starting at 8 p.m. featuring BOLERO SARASOTA and fireworks, with hors d’oeurves, beer and wine.
• At 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.16 you and your bud shouldn’t miss the party that is The Pedrito Martinez Group. With quick hands, percussionist Pedrito Martinez will allow you and your newest friend to experience the hypnotic Rumba beats found on the tropical island of Cuba. Don’t let the revelry end with the show; visit the museum free of charge until 7 p.m., and end your evening with a jazz-filled sunset on Sarasota Bay.
• Everyone has a friend who can’t get enough of all things sci-fi. At 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, bring your comic book obsessed pal to Intergalactic Nemesis, a live-action graphic novel. For the kid in all of us, this mash-up of radio drama and graphic storytelling is sure to entertain. And don’t forget to stop by the Gatehouse Patio after the show to join other festival goers for lite-bites, drinks, and lively conversations with new friends.
• At 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, fill your afternoon with laughter by bringing your funniest friend to a performance of The Table, whose star happens to be Moses, an irritable puppet who is having an existential crisis. You and your best pal will giggle the whole way through this brilliantly funny performance by Blind Summit Theater.
