The Saturday for Educators Workshop Series is designed to enhance educators’ understanding of The Ringling’s collections and special exhibitions, and provide an opportunity for networking, collaboration, and inspiration. The Ringling offers Saturday for Educators throughout the school year.
- 3 hours of CEU credit are available for participants
- The program includes a lecture, gallery experience & hands-on activity or lesson plan

- 9:00am to 1:00pm: Check-in begins at 8:30am

AUG 6, 2016 | Teaching Contemporary Art
*SPECIAL SUMMER SESSION*—Extended Program: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
In this supersized session, earn up to 6 hours of CEU credit as Museum staff lead you through several contemporary exhibitions currently on view at The Ringling. We’ll break down some of the barriers to contemporary art and demonstrate how it can enliven learning both in the art room and beyond.
SEP 10, 2016 | An Introduction to Asian Art
Fully opened in May 2016, The Ringling’s new Center for Asian Art in the Dr. Helga Wall-Apelt Gallery of Asian Art provides a rich community resource for studying the arts and cultures of Asia. This program will introduce you to The Ringling’s Asian art collection and demonstrate its potential classroom connections to visual art, language arts, and social studies.
NOV 5, 2016 | Photographs from the Former Soviet Union
This exhibition draws on The Ringling’s photography collection to afford a look at life behind the Iron Curtain. Featuring both official photographs from the World War II era and more impromptu shots from the period before the fall of the Soviet Union, it provides multiple entry points to topics in history, journalism, and other social sciences.
JAN 14, 2017 | Music in Art and Circus
Music has historically played an essential role in the circus, and it also aligns in fascinating ways with the world of visual art. During this workshop, we’ll look at the interconnections that exist among the three disciplines of music, art, and circus.

FEB 18, 2017 | A Feast for the Senses: Medieval Art Explore the art of late medieval Europe in this special exhibition from Baltimore’s Walters Art Museum. This workshop will connect art, history, and science through dozens of exquisite paintings, manuscripts, tapestries, and other medieval treasures that can be experienced not only with the eyes but with all our senses.
MAY 6, 2017 | Looking into Local History: Florida Life in the 1920s
The 1920s were a dynamic time in Florida, and the bayfront estate that became The Ringling was a major center of the action. During this session, we’ll address standards in social studies as we examine how John and Mable’s mansion, art collection, and business ventures contributed to and benefited from local developments in the Roaring Twenties.
